Roy Blunt Asks For Money To Stop Washington Extremists

So, he needs money to stop himself? Here is an email I just got from his campaign:

Dear Nate,
Our campaign is advancing well and thanks to friends like you our campaign clearly has the momentum. In the last year I've attended 260 events and traveled tens of thousands of miles across our state. I've listened to you and your neighbors about your concerns and the key issues facing our state and our country. The people of Missouri have responded, and a recent poll shows us ahead.

In addition, we had another great fundraising quarter with your help. In fact, we were the only campaign that received contributions last year from Missourians in all 114 counties and the City of St. Louis. Missourians are energized to stop the deficits, taxes and government takeovers that are being shoved down our throats by liberals in Washington.* In fact, Americans around the country, even in Massachusetts, are energized to stop this agenda and replace it with common sense solutions that won't increase taxes on your family and leave your children and grandchildren with a mountain of debt.

This is great news about our campaign successes, but we need to keep working as hard as possible over the next nine months. Extremist, liberal, Washington special interests have already spent about $1 million attacking me with false ads on TV and radio. This includes $750,000 from extreme environmentalists who attacked me for voting against the cap and tax bill which would destroy jobs and increase your energy bills by hundreds of dollars every year.** Now even more false attack ads are coming.

With Washington extremists coming to Missouri***, I need you to stand with me by making a contribution to help us fight back with the truth.

Together, we can win this fight and help ensure a better future for our families, our state and our country.

Thank you so much for your support.

Sincere regards,

Roy Blunt
Emphasis mine.

*I think Roy has confused the teabagging supporters of Chuck Purgason, his primary opponent, with the lib'rals.

**Roy just called this Missouri veteran an "environmental extremist":

H/t to Fired Up! for the video.

Also, as the candidate of the party that claims exclusive rights to Christianity, Roy should know the following verses from the Bible:
  • Leviticus 25:23-24. The land is mine and you are but aliens and my tenants. Throughout the country that you hold as a possession, you must provide for the redemption of the land.
  • Isaiah 24:4-6. The earth dries up and withers, the world languished and withers, the exalted of the earth languish. The earth lies under its inhabitants; for they have transgressed the laws, violated the statutes, and broken the everlasting covenant. Therefore a curse consumes the earth; its people must bear their guilt.
  • Jerimiah 2:7. I brought you into a fertile land to eat its fruit and rich produce. But you came and defiled my land and you made my inheritance detestable.
I'm pretty sure "drill, baby, drill" will bring about that curse from Isaiah. It's time to do our part and sacrifice for the wanton pollution of the last century.

***To stop "Washington extremists" from coming to Missouri, Roy should just stay in DC with his lobbyist buddies.

Well there's my take on Roy's extreme fundraising email, but I want to ask you a favor.

The last couple of weeks I've been meeting with some League of Conservation Voters organizers in Columbia. They said that clean energy legislation opponents are doing a better job of pressuring Senator McCaskill to vote against the upcoming bill. We must make our voice louder!

Please contact Senator McCaskill's office here, or tweet at her. Seriously, she does check twitter, but it would be better for her office to have your letter, email, or call documented.

Oh, and give a few bucks to Robin Carnahan, so Roy doesn't get a promotion to the Senate!

There Are Videos of Me Playing Music on The Internet

These aren't new or anything, but I thought I would collect them in a post. They are from a gig I played with Anna & The X's in May of 2008 at The Underground Cafe which was called The Artisan at the time. In the middle of the show, I took over and played and sang a few songs.

I covered The Wood Brothers, Neil Young, The Seldom Scene, and Bobby Bare. The band played original songs and a few covers; one of which is Tom Waits.

We were recorded by Dave who runs the YouTube channel ShowMeMoMusic.

We do have a CD and I promise it sounds better than this. You can check it out and/or buy it at Anna Fleischer's website.

Has The Facade Of Billboard's "Top 40" Lists Ever Been So Exposed?

Today I caught wind of Billboard's decision to name Nickelback the Band of the Decade. This, is of course, terrible news for kittens everywhere.

Upon hearing the news of Billboard's decision, God, instead of following his one-dead-kitten-per-Nickelback-song-played rule, killed all the kittens in the world.

THANKS A LOT, BILLBOARD! You've killed all the kittens!!! THE BLOOD IS ON YOUR HANDS!!!!

UPDATE! Now with Video: My Personal Experience with Fox News Bias

UPDATE: (11/19/2009) Thanks to Twitter and Alicia Nelson, who was working on a project to prove Fox News is biased, I now have the video showing Sean Hannity cutting off the clip before the College Democrats kicked out the protester. Enjoy.

----------

I'm pulling this one from the Facebook note vault which I will continue to do from time to time. This happened way back in the summer of 2007 when there were still crowded primary fields in both parties. If it wasn't completely obvious to you in 2007 that Fox News was in the bag for the Republicans, it should be now. This is proof that they were already headed in that direction.

The College Democrats of America convention was held at the University of South Carolina in Columbia, SC. John Edwards, Barack Obama, and Hillary Clinton all spoke to us during that weekend.

When Clinton came to speak, she brought out the crazies. There were a bunch of protesters with pictures of aborted fetuses and other stuff like that outside the university that morning. While she was speaking, one of the protesters got into the room and held a sign that read "SHE !!! doesn't CARE! All she wants is the POWER!"

The protester was initially booed for about 30 seconds, then then College Dems stood up and cheered while waving HRC signs until the protester was removed.

Here is the CNN video. [It doesn't seem to be working for me now. The same with the following Fox News clip.]

And here is how Fox News portrayed it.

Notice Fox cut the video clip right before the students stand and cheer making it appear as if HRC is being booed. Here is how Sean Hannity opened it:
SEAN HANNITY, CO-HOST: After getting jeered for the second year in a row at the Take Back America conference last month, Hillary Clinton got another rude welcoming this past weekend when she addressed a gathering of the Young Democrats for America.
First off, he didn't even get the name of the organization right, but Young Democrats of America Executive Director Alexandra Acker sets him straight:
ALEXANDRA ACKER, YOUNG DEMOCRATS OF AMERICA: The heckler was actually one lone woman who was not a delegate to the convention. It was the College Democrats of America convention. This is a middle-aged woman. I was really proud of all the students in the room who were cheering over her and supported Senator Clinton, and the students escorted her out of the room. It was a very minor incident. Senator Clinton was the picture of poise and went right back to her speech talking about issues that matter to young Americans.
Yep, I've experienced Fox News bias first hand and lived to tell a bout it. After Acker completely exposes Hannity's lie, the conversation turns to the other guest on the show, Bay Buchanan, and her new book.

Hannity got his headline and hit below the belt, then tucked tail and ran.

You can read more about the crazy lady who protested in this Post & Currier report of the incident.
